Cellande Midlands & The Environment

We try to reuse or recycle what ever we can. For example all our office waste paper is either shredded and used as packaging or internal copies for invoices etc. or sent to be recycled. Our letterheads themselves are A5 instead of A4. We compost our organic waste to use in the planters and on the roof garden.

We are very keen to minimise any detrimental effect that we may have on the environment. We have discovered that one of the most straightforward and effective ways to reduce our office’s impact on climate change is to use renewable electricity. Therefore we are signed up to Good Energy, the only supplier to supply nothing but 100% renewable electricity to homes and businesses around mainland Britain. If you generate your own renewable electricity they may be able to help you out too.

In our crèche we use cotton nappies. Also we try to encourage a love of nature and recycling to be an everyday part of life with bicycle rides to the park and trips to the bottle bank etc. We can now carry up to three children per bike (one in a child seat mounted just behind the adult seat and two in the trailer) this makes cycling much more practical for us.

Local trips out (e.g. to the bank) are by bicycle or on foot.

A few years ago we planted a garden on the roof of our canteen using reclaimed York paving. We didn't just want grass so we planted alpines instead. At first it looked very bare but now it looks really beautiful!
